DJD is putting their spin on Vaudeville with its new production Modern Vaudevillians, which plays at the DJD Dance Centre from April 20 to May 6, 2017. An evening that includes a variety of acts, Modern Vaudevillians features the DJD Company of dancers, a three-piece band, and guest artists. Modern Vaudevillians features dancers Sabrina Comenescu, Julia Cosentino, Rodney Diverlus, Catherine Hayward, Kaja Irwin, Shayne Johnson, Miha Matevzic, Kaleb Tekeste and Dezjuan Thomas. Original music for the production is composed and performed by Rubim de Toledo (bass), Chris Andrew (keyboards), and Jonathan McCaslin (drums). Guest performers include: Peter Balkwill (clown/percussive dance), Troy Emery Twigg (clown), Allison Lynch (singer/actor), and Patrick Chan (aerialist). Choreography is by Michèle Moss, Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, Linnea Swan, and Kimberley Cooper. Costumes are created by Deitra Kalyn, with set by Scott Reid, and lighting by Brian MacNeil.
