A fire at a dairy barn near Olds, Alta., on Thursday destroyed 25 one-of-a-kind antique cars and other farm equipment.
Fire departments from Olds, Didsbury and Bowden responded to the fire at a rural property on Range Road 14 and Township Road 334.
Crews arrived to find the a massive shop of approximately 40,000 sq. ft. “with smoke and flames end to end.”
It took firefighters six hours in frigid temperatures to put out the flames. Crews remained on scene putting out hot spots throughout the night on Thursday.
The Olds Fire Department said in a release Friday that the fire originated in an area of the barn used to store automotive paints.
No injuries have been reported, but some of the firefighting equipment received minor damage because of the freezing conditions.
Damage to the barn is believed to be more than three million dollars.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
