In an effort to improve care in the community, nurse practitioners have joined four community groups to support clients who face barriers related to their health and wellness.
President of the Nurse Practitioner Association of Alberta Eric Lavoie says it’s a 10-million a year investment over three years.
The new 10-million dollar, three year health project places nurse practitioners into a team that delivers first stop and on-going health services where needs are high.
The challenges the group is facing head on includes access to housing, lack of parental support, cultural differences, mental health difficulties, substance abuse and managing chronic disease.
Lavoie adds utilizing their group is needed in this province.
