A good hockey game Friday night, as the Calgary Flames hosted the Chicago Blackhawks.
It was their third and last meeting of the year, early on in the season.
The Hawks’ Ryan Hartman scored the lone goal in the first.
The Flames would take the lead in the second period with a goal by Sam Bennett and Sean Monahan. Troy Brouwer, on the same line, picked up an assist on each of those goals. However, the Flames couldn’t get a key penalty killed. Brent Seabrook wired a shot pasted Chad Johnson. The score was tied 2-2 after 40 minutes.
The score would hold until the final 2:23 of the game when Marian Hossa tapped home a high puck off Johnson’s back. The Flames, unfortunately, couldn’t challenge the high puck or goaltender interference because they had already used their time-out. Tough break for the Flames. That would be the final score.
Next up for the Flames is a match-up in Michigan against the Detroit Red Wings.
Puck drop Sunday at 5:30.
