Westjet announced soaring third quarter profits on Tuesday, despite the ongoing downturn in the Alberta economy.
The Calgary-based company said it had $116 million dollars in net income or 97 cents per share in the three months ending Sept. 30. That’s a record profit for the quarter.
WestJet’s profit in the third quarter of 2015 was $101.8 million, or 82 cents per share.
The company said it flew a record 5.9 million passengers in the quarter ending on Sept. 30.
