A new trial has been ordered for two people convicted in the beating death of a Calgary man.
Chantelle Campbell and Jarod Henry were found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison a year ago.
A third man accused in the beating was previously acquitted.
All three suspects were strangers.
John Herrera Garcia was attacked and beaten to death on May 23, 2012 in Calgary’s Beltline as he walked home with groceries.
The Alberta Court of Appeal has now overturned second-degree murder convictions for Campbell and Henry.
The Crown had conceded a new trial was warranted.
The pair will be back in court Dec. 9 to set a date for the new trial.
