A vehicle recall today could affect many pickup owners and police forces.
Transport Canada has issued a recall notice for 10,000 Ram pickups and other vehicles at increased risk of stalling or engine fires due to an electrical short. Affected vehicles include model years 2007 to 2014 and have a 220-amp alternator with a potential to malfunction in hot weather. The federal agency says the problem can be corrected by replacing the alternator.
The recall includes Ram 2500 pickup trucks from the 2013 model year, Ram 3500s dating back to the 2007 model year and Ram 4500 and 5500s from the 2008 through 2013 model years.
It also affects the 2011 – 2014 model year Dodge Charger police cars.
