An apology from two senior Liberal staffers at the centre of a moving expense controversy.
In a post on Facebook, Principal Secretary Gerald Butts and Chief of Staff Katie Telford say they are sorry and are reimbursing the government for a significant portion of the expenses.
They say they were following a long-standing government policy which left them eligible to claim a large amount in moving expenses, but add they did not feel comfortable doing that.
The post includes a detailed breakdown of the expenses, which total more than $200,000.
They say they will only retain the actual cost that was paid to third parties to make the move happen.
