A fundraiser for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary and Area has been a success.
President Karen Orser says the group’s first ever All-Star Campaign has raised more than $230,000.
All-Star athletes and community leaders used their profiles to help raise awareness, while local businesses supported the campaign by hosting fundraising events.
The group says since the economic downturn began two years ago demand has surged from parents and families reaching out for support, but at the same time, resources have dwindled as funding and donations decreased.
Orser says she’s thrilled with the support the organization has received.
She also says Big Brothers and Big Sisters is still looking for volunteers and encourages people to call or visit their website to look at the opportunities.
