The Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame has announced its finalists for induction this year…..and as a longtime sucker for a good sports flick, I’m loving this year’s list!
The theoretical hall was started by Toronto’s Kirk Buchner a few years back to honour those who inspired us without actually existing. The first inductee….Rocky Balboa. Since then he’s been joined by such greats as Crash Davis, Reg Dunlop, and Roy Hobbs. This year’s shortlist includes Apollo Creed, who gave us those great fights against Balboa. Dean Youngblood, who turned Hamilton hockey on its ear and pummeled bad guy Carl Racki into submission while sporting a great 80’s flow…..and Dottie Hinson, catcher for the Rockford Peaches and women’s sports pioneer.
Me? I’m voting for Hinson. It’s time to break down the all-male wall in the FAHOF and besides, I have a tragic unrequited love for Genna davis. Find out more here:
