Alberta PC leadership candidate Jason Kenney says the first thing he would do in government would be to repeal the carbon tax.
He was speaking to the Economic Club of Canada this afternoon in Calgary.
Kenney says the NDP government can’t be blamed for the low price of commodities but they are making a bad situation much worse. He says the tax was brought under the guise of getting social license to get pipelines approved but Kenney says opposition to pipelines has gotten stronger.
The current Calgary MP says the main problem with the carbon tax is that it’s not revenue neutral and just redistributes wealth.
Kenney says who would have imagined that a country like Kazakhstan would be seen as more stable than Alberta to investors.
