The former MLA for Calgary-Varsity is taking a run at the leadership for the PC party.
Donna Kennedy-Glans says she’s excited to enter the race.
“I am doing it with absolute determination, it is really clear in my mind that this is what I want to do and I’ve got a really solid team of people around me.”
Conservative MP Jason Kenney is the only other person in the leadership race, but the official launch of the race doesn’t take place until October 1st.
Kennedy-Glans says she doesn’t think the unite-the-right campaign by Jason Kenney is needed here.
“The PC’s lost votes on the left, they didn’t lose them on the right. The unite-the-right model, in my mind, is a federal model, it doesn’t work in Alberta. Alberta isn’t the same as the federal model.”
She says some of the decisions made by the NDP government are putting Alberta in a place that will be hard to navigate through and she says a course correction is needed quickly.
The PC leadership election will be held on March 18, 2017 in Calgary.
