The rainbow flag is flying at the Alberta Government’s southern Alberta office.
Culture and Tourism Minister Ricardo Miranda raised the Pride flag at McDougall Centre downtown as part of the Calgary Pride Festival and calls it a proud and historic moment for diversity in Alberta. This marks the first time the rainbow has flown at the home of the provincial government in Calgary.

In a statement, Miranda says he’s proud to be part of a government with three openly gay MLAs, including one cabinet minister, which has taken “history steps to create a more inclusive and welcoming province.”
Miranda and Premier Rachel Notley will be walking with their colleagues in Sunday’s Pride Parade.
Last night a huge rainbow crosswalk was painted downtown as Calgary’s Pride Festival kicks into high gear this weekend.
