An Edmonton actor hopes this incident will help Canada have a more open dialogue on racism.
While walking down the street shooting a video in downtown Edmonton, Jesse Lipscombe had several racial slurs shot at him from some individuals inside a vehicle.
Lipscombe approached the vehicle and opened the door. When confronted, the men inside the vehicle denied that they had said anything, but yelled the same word as they sped off.
Edmonton Police Chief Rod Knecht has weighed in on the racist video, which was all caught on tape.
He says it’s disturbing, but it could be difficult to bring hate crime charges against the person, unless other witnesses come forward.
Edmonton’s mayor issued a statement condemning the use of racist language by the occupants of the car and called Lipscombe to offer his support.
