The Energy East pipeline is getting a major boost from a coalition of business groups and unions in Quebec.
It comes just days before the National Energy Board begins hearings into the project in Montreal.
Those hearings begin on Monday.
Several business groups and two large unions say the pipeline will bring much needed economic development and jobs to Quebec.
If approved, Energy East would carry oil from Alberta to refineries in eastern Canada.
The president of a large union of construction workers says his members could benefit for five years from projects related to the pipeline.
