A nationwide campaign called Mobile Muslims made a stop in Calgary Tuesday, which organizers say is meant to clear up misconceptions about Islam.
The message from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at organization is the true meaning of Islam is that it’s a religion of peace.
It says the existence of a group like ISIS prompted the cross-country tour, which was on Stephen Avenue Mall.
Local missionary Shahrukh Abid says the image of Islam is being tarnished by the actions of a few.
He says the reception by Calgarians to their mobile exhibition has been positive, but says there was some negative reaction in Red Deer and Drumheller.
The group began it’s exhibit in St. John’s, Newfoundland and are heading to the West Coast.
