Watching Drew Tate on the sidelines at a stamps game a few weeks ago…couldn’t help but be obsessed with the question: “What’s the deal with Drew’s neck?” Three perfectly circular bruisy-looking things at the base of his skull. Didn’t think it would be polite to ask. Then along came Michael Phelps. Lightbulb!
So Drew, what’s the deal with your neck? “Ever since the arm injury back in 2014,” says Tate of his introduction to the now-popularized practice of ‘cupping.’ “I met a lady from Taiwan and she was the first person who did it to me. I’d never seen it before, I’d never heard about it before.”
Does it work? “I think it helps, might be a placebo, who knows, but to me it makes sense….I’d done so much on my arm and nothing helped, but I’m usually open to a lot of different kinds of medicines and treatments”
Hey man, if it works for you, and it’s all natural and drug free, why not? Me, I still prefer to use suction on blocked sinks, but next sore neck….who knows?
