That’s the message for Pokemon Go-ers from the federal government.
Veterans Affairs Minister Kent Hehr tweeted out a statement over the weekend, asking people to be respectful while playing the mobile game at monuments, war memorials and other sacred places.
Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping Vice President Rick Wright says we need to educate people on these places.
“You see, that’s part of the problem is people don’t understand what a memorial is,” Wright said at the annual Peacekeepers Day Ceremony in Garrison Green on Sunday. “They think it’s a hunk of concrete.”
He says it’s not just users who are to blame, as the creators need to be more respectful when it comes to placing the characters.
