Calgary-based Kenn Borek Air may need to medevac a second patient from a research station in Antarctica.
Two Twin Otter plans have now made it to the Antarctic after waiting out some bad weather.
Now they need to fly another 2400 km to the Amundsen Scott South Poll station where an employee must be evacuated for hospitalization.
Officials are deciding whether a second patient should be brought out as well.
It’s mid-winter in Antarctica and flights in and out of the stations are usually not planned between February and October due to the extreme cold and darkness.
