Best known for his role in the shooting of an armed assailant inside the Parliament Buildings in 2014, Canada’s ambassdor to Ireland has again taken charge in an apparent security breach.
Former House of Commons sergeant-at-arms Kevin Vickers tackled a protester in Dublin today. The protester was running up to the podium during a ceremony remembering British soldiers killed in the 1916 Easter Rising. Security officers arrested the protester moments later.
Vickers, a former RCMP officer, was among those who fired the hail of bullets that killed rifle-wielding Michael Zehaf Bibeau during an assault on Parliament Hill in October 2014.
