Wetter and cooler weather in the southern parts of Alberta have reduced the fire hazard, causing the province to make an adjustment.
Effective immediately, the fire ban and off highway vehicle restrictions will no longer be in effect in portions of southern and southwestern Alberta.
Oneil Carlier, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, made the announcement in a press released Friday evening.
In the parts of Alberta where the fire ban is still in effect, portable propane fire pits and gas or propane stoves and barbecues designed for cooking or heating are allowed.
Until further notice, all open fires are still prohibited and all fire permits remain suspended.
