Lethbridge Police have charged the daughter of a 78-year-old woman, who was stabbed to death in her home earlier this year, with one count of second-degree murder.
51 year old Lisa Freihart of Calgary has been remanded in custody here in the city.
On January 17, 2016, police responded to a 911 call after the family of Irene Carter couldn’t reach her.
Officers found her body inside her residence.
Freihart had previously appeared emotional in front of the media on April 7 at Calgary Police Headquarters, asking the public for help in finding her mother’s killer.
She also stated that her family was frustrated that no one had been charged in over two months.
The investigation determined the accused and victim were involved in a dispute over finances and a physical altercation resulted in Carter’s death.
