Not bad....not bad at all....

Lots to like about Thursday's win in Hamilton. For starters, let's go with the obvious choice of a great performance by Jon Cornish in a game where he needed it and needed it bad. After ripping his O line publicly, and some say correctly, Cornish was in the crosshairs and he answered with 170 yards on the ground and over 200 yards of total offense behind a line that responded to a public challenge and two more key injuries with the kind of blocking Cornish needs to succeed. What also helped was some creative play calling by Dave Dickenson with direct snaps to backs and receivers and enough razzle dazzle to force the Ti-Cats defense to guess. Too often this year it's been too easy to read a Stamps offense that's too predictable and limits its options with first down failure.

Second it was nice to see Larry Taylor a factor once again. Inexplicably, Hamilton just kept kicking the ball to one of the CFL`s best weapons on special teams and he responded with a key punt return and a big kick return. Starting field position in my mind is one of the most overlooked stats in the CFL. Start with a short field and it's 5 or 6 plays to scoring country instead of 10 of 11...That's far fewer chances for things to do wrong.

On a down note, Kevin Glenn took a step back in this game, alternately underthrowing and overthrowing receivers through most of the game. Luckily with Cornish doing what he was doing, this was less of a factor than it should have been.

The team will be back at it after a long weekend off with Toronto coming to town Saturday. Hands up everybody else who was shocked to hear the Argos cut Cory Boyd!
