So…what’s wrong with this picture? Drew Tate’s in Calgary and Brad Sinopoli’s in Kingston. Tate is set for an MRI on his shoulder tomorrow and it’s just a question of how bad the news is going to be. Dislocation or separation, it’s likely to be a 4 to 6 week recovery and what’s more disturbing is the fact it’s the second straight year Tate has hurt his non-throwing shoulder.
So now it’s up to Kevin Glenn to keep the Stamps competitive until Tate gets healthy. Saturday we got a taste of classic Glenn…. The Glenn who’s equally capable of making great plays and bad decisions….and at this point in his career….that’s not likely to change. A key will be getting the ball in the hands of Jon Cornish to give the Als’ defense more to think about than just getting to Glenn. The Stamps failed to establish the run in Toronto and in my mind that was one of the main reasons the offense had trouble getting rolling.
The other big question that no one can answer is why does this team keep taking bad penalties? It’s a message John Hufnagel’s been harping on since day one of his time here…let alone this season and it keeps happening. I’m here to tell to tell you it’s not fun being on the receiving end of a Huf stare when he’s less than pleased with you….so I can’t understand why the message isn’t sinking in. Looking at the numbers Anthony Calvillo put up this weekend….if the Stamps D allows him to extend drives with dumb flags…it’s gonna be a looooong night Thursday.
