I like the idea of the committee members being paid this monthly stipend to do nothing. Imagine the chaos if they actually worked!!! I'd like to expand this program and offer all members of the ruling royalty, locally known as the PC's, an opprortunity to earn $2,000. per month to be on a stand by at home committee "to study the effects of lesser government working to the best interests of Albertans". To qualify all they have to do is nothing. I'd pay for that!!!

OK everyone complains about "freedom of speech" however, when it is tested then everyone gets offended and wants to stifle those opinions they don't agree with! are you people serious??? why would someone who is religious disliking what they believe to be wrong, be so bad? so you don't agree? SO WHAT that should be their freedom to feel that way!
Danielle Smith is leaving people to have their true freedom to say what they believe whether she agrees with them or not! it seems people are hypocrites!
So because she wont comment on someones personal beliefs this makes her bad??? she is expressing what we all should, if we agree or not that takes a lot of courage, you go Danielle Smith! you have my support

@lunas I couldn't agree more. Why are we painting Danielle Smith into some horrible person simply because she believes in free speech? Free speech in this country has become free, unless you differ from what I say, when it should go back to truly free speech. Whats the problem with that? When did this province start to become like Ontario politically??? If any other party can't run an honest campaign on issues, real issues instead of this stuff, what does that tell you about who they are and where they stand. Wildrose may be a rookie group which worries some, but they have a lot of courage and let's face it, that's more than the incumbents have despite their years of experience. Its not like we can teach courage and honesty.

Sorry but I think Judge Major has the wrong job comparative premise for MLA pay. MLAs sell the PArty line during elections and toe the Party line and continue to sell it until the next election. They are sales people. Pay them a commission based on $X per vote as their annual compensation. As for the Premier, Ministers and Leaders- they are not the CEO, CFO, VPs as in private industry. Their private industry comparative is Board members. They should be paid stipends for the duties done similar to corporate Boards. The political and government staff are the CEOs, CFOs and VPs who do the research, propose options, and execute the strategies approved by the Board.

Isnt it interesting I give public servants all they want then along comes Maijor who says because they get so much the politicians need more. So by giving them a raise I guarentee myself a raise

The "major " factor missing is market validation. Justice Major has never been unemployed moving from a Law firm to an appointed position. I am old enough to remember politician being acclaimed because the MLA/Alderman was so strong you wasted your time toe unseat them OR the pay was not worth the hassles of the position . Since politicians have figured out they can whine about workloads and increase their own salary I don't recall any uncontested seats in provincial politics.
Fix a salary at the level of a senior Department Manager and then give themselves the same raise they grant the unions annually. Everybody buys their food, housing and fuel in the same marketplace. Why would a politician deserve a higher percentage bump then the average employee???? ONLY if we run out of volunteers to run should the need to enhance this process be considered!

Redford knew when she appointed a judge she would get a gold-plated response. Why do you think she planned to receive the report after the election? Apparently she even had the judge fooled on that one.

Hi DAve, thanks for taking the time to talk about the Banff Jasper Relay today. Your support of the Relay and the Brain Tumour Foundation is most appreciated. We know that you can't make it this year, but we hope that you come out to run in 2013!!

The Ministry of Health and Wellness needs to reign in AHS. AHS operates as a rogue organization, without any concern for the fact that the money which it spends is public money. That being said, the Ministry seems to be completely unaware of what AHS is doing (like an absentee landlord), which suggests that they too are to blame for the health care fiasco in which we seem to be embroiled.

Minister Horne continues to spew out the same lies about the Little Bow Continuing Care Centre in Carmangay. Dave Shorten of AHS has stated in private conversation that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the care currently being provided by the staff in Carmangay. AHS has known about the condition of the roof on the facility since at least 2006, yet they've not scheduled a repair yet, probably because they've never intended to allow it to stay open. The only reason that all of the beds in the facility are not currently filled is that AHS ceased to admit new residents in the spring, again, because they knew of the planned closure. MOST IMPORTANTLY, however, is the fact that AHS HAS NOT PERFORMED A DETAILED ASSESSMENT AS TO THE TOTAL COST REQUIRED TO MAKE ANY NECESSARY CHANGES TO THE BUILDING. AHS is closing a publicly-funded facility without performing any cost analyses at all! When we need more centres capable of caring for dementia patients, the government is closing one of the few centres that does exist in southern Alberta. In truth, this facility is being closed in order to allow Redford to build her 140 'family care centres', which are simply more monuments to a diseased PC party. Come on Alberta, Speak Out against these clowns before they do any more damage.

Traffic efficiency . We do not have practicality and patience and consideration. Send alll those interested in getting a liscence to Thailand on a motocycle for one week if they survive give them a license because they will have learned tollerance and respect for other drivers and in Canada why do we not implement NO LEFT TURNS. ?????? If U want to go left make three rites for traffic efficiency Do the math staight thru traffic is much quicker ??
