Starting next fall, anyone looking to buy a new home in Alberta will have to dole out extra money to make sure it's insured. The Government introduced a new mantadory warranty protection plan for new home buyers today. Minister of Municipal Affairs Doug Griffiths says this plan should make buying a new home less stressful, because if something goes wrong you're insured. The new home warranty will cost home buyers about $1,700 to $2,000. The warranty covers a list of things including one-year labour and materials and ten years for major structural components.
