Calgary Police are asking for the public's help following a suspicious death in the southeast overnight.

At about 3:25 a.m. Sunday morning, police were called to reports of gunshots in the 100 block of Applefield Close S.E.

When officers arrived, the body of a man in his 20s was located on the road.

Duty Inspector Paul Stacey says they have a number of questions about what happened, "If anybody knows anything about this incident that we haven't spoken to yet. If they can come forward to us so we can chat with them."

Police do not believe this was a random attack.

While they don't know the cause of death, Police have confirmed the victim did have a gunshot wound.

 An autopsy is scheduled to take place Monday, Oct 1st.
