Several deficiencies have been found at Edmonton based X-L Foods. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency did an in-depth review at the food processing plant, where a massive beef recall originated after E. coli was recently found. More than 250 beef products are part of the recall. The CFIA says E. coli is not uncommon at slaughter facilities, but there needs to be certain measures in place to detect when there's higher-than-normal rates. The agency says the measures taken weren't always consistent at this plant.
