It was a crime that shocked first responders.  Police had a hard time with what they found in a southeast home; an 11- month-old baby who was slashed by his father on the neck and the abdomen.  It was only due to the fact that the father called 9-1-1 that the child was saved, but the judge noted that call was only made because the father wanted to be shot by police so that he and his son could die together.  The infant, who was 11-months-old at the time, has made a full recovery. The Crown has called the case horrific, and said the man is lucky the boy didn't die.
The man has now been sentenced to five years in prison.
