A freak accident this morning has claimed the life of a 12 year old boy in the southwest.
Police say the boy was longboarding with his friends on Millrise Blvd S.W. just before noon today when he crashed in a fencepost.
Insp. Paul Stacey says the boy had gone down a small hill when he crashed.  He was wearing a helmet, but the boy's throat was crushed. He was rushed to hospital by EMS and had emergency surgery, but later died.  Police say an accident like this is particularily tragic because the boy was just doing what he should be doing, having fun with his friends.
