West Nile cases increase in the province

Three new cases of West Nile virus have been confirmed in Alberta.

Alberta Health Services says two of the women with the disease contracted it outside the province....it's not known where the third woman was infected.

One of the cases is the more serious form of the virus, which can cause paralysis and even death.

AHS is once again urging Albertans to take precautions against the virus by wearing long sleeved clothing and long pants, and wearing insect repellant with DEET.

There are now four confirmed cases in the province.
