One person is in custody but no charges have been laid as an investigation has been launched into the death of an M-D of Foothills Community Peace Officer.

The Alberta Soliciter General has identified the officer as Rod Lazenby.

RCMP say Lazenby was taken to the District 8 Calgary police office in medical distress this morning.

He was taken to Foothills Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators have identified potential crime scenes including a rural home near Turner Valley and the vehicle the officer was taken to the police detachment in.

An autopsy will be done on Monday to help determine what exactly happened.
