A Red Deer man sustained serious injuries after a bizarre early morning attack earlier in the week.
It's alleged, that on July 15th at around 1:00 a.m., the 24 year old victim, a male from Red Deer, was walking downtown alone when he was approached by a group of males and one asked for a cigarette.
When the victim declined to give him one, the male was punched in the face at least twice before he lost consciousness and fell to the ground.
The four males continued to assault the victim by punching and kicking him.
The victim suffered multiple facial and head injuries which required hospitalization.
The victim recalls at least one person witnessed the event and offered assistance after the fact. The victim does not recall the exact location of the assault, but believes it took place near the Buffalo, a local rooming house.
Anyone with information is asked to call Red Deer City RCMP.
