Taber corn could be on your plate sooner than usual

Albertans may be sinking their teeth into our favourite sweet corn earlier this year.  David Jensen with Jensen Farms in Taber says crops are in excellent shape and they're expecting corn to be out in stands a lot earlier than the past two years.  He says if all goes well, corn should be harvested and sold starting the first week of August, which is more of a normal year.  Last year and the year before the corn wasn't being harvested until the third week of August or later due to cool and wet weather.  Jensen says plenty of rain this June and now hot temperatures forecast the next few weeks will be perfect for corn crops.
