Calgary's population soaring - census

Calgary's population continues to grow, up by 2.68 per cent to 1.12 million people.
The census, conducted in April, shows the largest increase in population since 2007.
It grew by more than 29 thousand people over the last year.
The majority of the increase is due to net migration, people moving to the city.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi says he was pleased to see that there was population growth in a number of exisiting communities as well as the usual suburban growth.
The areas with the largest growth are in Panorama, Auburn Bay and Skyview Ranch.
That presents challenges in providing infrastructure and again the mayor says it shows the need in getting younger families into exisiting communities.
