Strike action by about 35-hundred public school employees has been avoided.  The Calgary Board of Education has announced a new four-year collective agreement has been ratified with its Staff Association.  It will be retroactive to September 2010, with a 2% wage increase for 2012 and 2.5% for 2013.  Back in May, the majority of association members, including education assistants, tech support and health advisors, voted in favor of strike action if new talks didn't provide them with a new deal.
