Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi's father has died. Kurbanali Hussein Nenshi turned  72 on Saturday. "Kurban" Nenshi was born in Tanzania and emigrated to Canada with his wife Noorjah in 1971. He leaves behind his wife, 2 children and 2 grandchildren as well as numerous siblings, nieces and nephews. The Nenshi family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Calgary Foundation, referencing the Nenshi Family Charitable Fund. Mayor Nenshi, in a statement Sunday says he will continue to perform the duties required by his office, but he will be less visible at community events as he will be spending more time with his family. A memorial service for Kurban Nenshi will be held next week. Mayor Nenshi and his family are asking for privacy at this time.
