Hundreds of Calgarians filled North Glenmore Park this morning for the 5th Annual Father's Day Loops for the Troops Run / Walk.

Race Director, Captain Mike ter Kuile says the event was founded in honour of Calgarian, Corporal Nathan Hornburg who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2007.

He says Loops for the Troops races are now also run in both Edmonton and Afganistan.

When he founded the Loops for the Troops race in honour of his son, Corporal Nathan Hornburg, Michael Hornburg never imagined how the community would rally to support the event, now in it's fifth year.

Hornburg says the event is always an emotional one.
