Calgary's Police Service is not endorsing a suggestion that ecstasy should be legalized. BC's top doctor says street use of MDMA would decrease if it were legalized, sold through licensed, government-run stores and taken in correct dosages. But Kevin Brookwell with the Calgary Police Service says he can't go along with that. "From a policing perspective we have seen the consequences of MDMA, and I'm not sure there's such thing as a safe MDMA." Brookwell says the debate should take place as a public health issue, but at this point the drug is illegal and police will continue to enforce the law.
