A judge has given an adult sentence to a man who killed Adam Cavanagh in his home five years ago. Judge Steve Lipton says the accused continues to show a lack of accountability and he even said in a psychiatric assessment that Cavanagh "got what he deserved". The judge says an adult sentence will provide the 22-year-old with the opportunity to get treatment for anti-social behaviour. And if he doesn't turn his life around, he'll stay in prison. With an adult sentence, he gets life in prison with no chance of parole for ten years. A youth sentence would have meant a ten-year sentence with only six years in custody.
