Federal NDP leader Thomas Mulcair is coming to Alberta this week, and industry insiders will be watching closely to see what happens. 

Thomas Mulcair has been soundly criticized for his comments about the detrimental effects of Alberta's oilsands to the rest of Canada.  So oil industry leaders are hoping this trip to Alberta may help change his mind. 

Travis Davies from the Canadian ASsociation of Petroleum Producers says the key component of any visit is a trip to the oilsands themselves. "A picture is worth a thousand words and a visit to the oil sands is worth a thousand pictures." Davies says other critics of the oilsands have changed their tune after actually visiting the site, and he hopes that will be the case with Mulcair.
