As Calgarian Sheila Nabb recovers from a Mexican nightmare far from the headlines, a news report out of Mazatlan is raising some eyebrows.
More than two months after Nabb was savagely beaten in a luxury resort, there are reports some members of the Canadian community in Mazatlan held a fund-raising dinner...not for the injured woman but for the man charged with her attempted murder. Noroeste.com reports: "Incredibly, it was learned that members of the Canadian community in the port hosted a dinner in aid of Acosta Quintero a few days ago, in order to raise funds and pay a lawyer."
The suspect meanwhile is fighting a transfer to another prison where he and his family claim his life will be in danger.
