Buddy is heading home to Arkansas after being on the lamb for nearly 29 dog years.  Calgary Animal and Bylaw officers found the purebred chocolate lab roaming on the loose last week.  When they checked a microchip imbedded in the dog's skin, they discovered that he'd been stolen as a puppy in 2008 from a family who live just outside of the state capital of Little Rock.
Bylaw boss, Bill Bruce says it turns out that Buddy lived in Oregon for awhile and then BC before turning up here in Calgary. Buddy's registered name is River, and his owners are thrilled to be getting him back.  The 45-kilogram pooch will be flown back stateside in a specially designed crate.
