Officials with the Calgary Airport Authority are trumpeting another banner year for operations at the airport with a record passenger load for 2011.
Just under 13 million passengers used Calgary international last year, a 1.2 per cent increase from 2010.
Airport Authority president Garth Atkinson made his annual presentation to city council and the mood was more cordial with the airport tunnel project now under construction.
Atkinson says the numbers show expansion is necessary saying the airport is operating at capacity at peak times
