Sheldon Kennedy says he'll be in the courtroom Tuesday in Winnipeg for the sentencing of Graham James. The former hockey coach is to be sentenced for sexual assault against two of his former junior players, Theoren Fleury and Todd Holt.
Sheldon Kennedy came forward in the late 90's with a revelation that shook the hockey world. The latest conviction against Graham James comes after Theo Fleury and Todd Holt came forward. Kennedy says he thinks about the sentencing of his former abuser a lot with the wide disparity being sought by the crown and the defence. While saying it's important to be in the courtroom Tuesday, Kennedy says he's moved past being angry at James.
"I've got my power back and Graham doesn't run my life anymore. You know when I was angry, running away from myself, he still had that power over me. I've worked hard at getting out of being a victim"
The crown asked for a six year sentence, the defence a conditional sentence with no jail time.
