Does the right hand of the Tory government know what the left hand is doing? After an all party committee voted themselves a nice pension perk and "transition in the guise of severance" allowance last week their boss Premier Redford made it clear that no matter how you dressed it up, her government wasn't going to accept such an allowance. Oh, back up a bit, only the Tory MLA's on the all party committee agreed to the new perks, opposition MLAs weren't going along with any of it. So how does a committee present such a plan without the Premier knowing about it? And is this Alison Redford's way of redirecting attention to the transition allowance, while not jumping up an down about the one hundred percent RRSP contribution? I believe she knew about it all along and with the expected outcry from voters she suddenly threw it back on members of the committee. Now that same committee is going to go back to the drawing board and will report back to the legislature once its work is done. Hopefully the new plan will include some crazy ideas like MLAs putting in 50 percent for their RRSPs and if voters don't re-elect their MLAs treat it as if they are contract employees and their contracts are not being renewed. One other thing, maybe you should keep your boss in the loop.
