Does XL Foods know what its doing?
Posted 10/15/2012 12:47:00 PM

Oh, the games people play ... or in this case ... XL foods and the canadian food inspection agency. On the weekend XL Foods announced it was laying off almost two thousand of its 22 hundred staff. Obviously a blow to the employees who have been waiting on tenderizing pins and needles since the plant was closed for inspection, wondering if and when they would be going back to work. To find out that most of them would be laid off would be devastating news. Of course the CFIA wouldn't be able to complete it's review of the plant if most of the workers were laid off, so the next day XL foods announces it's recalling 800 of the laid off workers. Didn't XL foods realize it would need those employees in order for inspectors to determine if all the proper steps were being followed? When is Ottawa going to announce a full blown inquiry into this mess? Does XL foods have the expertise to run a plant of this size? All questions that need answers but the Nilsson brothers are remaining fairly quiet, something they have plenty of expertise in.
