"Saving" our money...
Posted 10/3/2012 8:41:00 AM

I'm not buying it ... oh wait a minute as a taxpayer I already have had to 'buy' the wasted hotel rooms from Premier Redford's London expedition.

The trip, planned during the busiest and most expensive time of the Olympics, was initially supposed to cost just over 84 thousand dollars.  Now that the bills have come in the actual 'total' was $518 thousand dollars.  And buried in that total was $113 thousand dollars in hotel rooms that weren't used.  In the government's logic it said the $113 thousand dollars should be seen as a wise use of taxpayers dollars.

Earlier this year the Redford government decided to reduce the delegation by 18 people, so $123 thousand dollars was saved.  Are you still following?  And when the government tried to sell back the hotel rooms it was told the market had 'softened' and the rooms couldn't be sold. The market had softened during the Olympics?  That in itself is a mind-boggler.  But more mind boggling is the government's attempt at saying it was 'saving us money.'  A lot more money could have been saved if it stuck to the original budget of $84 thousand dollars.  Oh right, I forgot, with this government making budgets and sticking to them are two different things.

Is anyone at WR documenting all this PC waste and corruption we've seen in the past few months? I really hope they are documenting all these fiascos as reported in the media for use as ammunition to use against this government not only now but in the next election. People unfortunately forget about this stuff once its out of the news cycle and need to be reminded when it really matters - which is a bit less than 4 years from now. Unfortunately we are powerless to do much of anything right now except complain.

I sure wish I had $114,000.00 to waste - this total disregard of our hard earned tax dollars is shameful - I did not vote for the Redford conservatives and for those who did - "SHAME ON YOU!!!!!"
