Armstrong will always be seen as guilty
Posted 8/24/2012 12:48:00 PM

In the end it was a cloud Lance Armstrong couldn't cycle away from.  The seven time Tour de France champion says he's tired of fighting allegations that he won those races through blood doping.  The U.S. Anti Doping Agency comes out the winner, saying it will strip the cancer-surviving cyclist of all his titles.  Armstrong didn't want to go into the arbitration process with the USADA, his last option to clear his name. He said he was tired of the fight.  It's unfortunate because he had come this far, challenged every other accusation.  In stepping away from the fight at this point his reputation will likely always be scarred.  The Doping Agency might be able to take away his titles, but they won't be able to take away all the effort he has put into fighting cancer.  Wearing a yellow "live"strong rubber bracelet symbolizes that fight.  He may no longer be able to claim the title as the world's greatest cyclist but he'll always be able to say he beat cancer.

Hi: I am just in after listening to 770 sports chat at 4:l5 or so lots of it regarding Lance Armstrong and his racing. Verdict: found guilty before he was proven guilty. The guys brought up people like Ben Johnson who "owned up" (plus a few others) - pretty hard not to own up when they actually find traces of banned substances in your blood isn't it. They have NEVER, NEVER, NEVER had a positive test from Lance - even when they rouse him at 4:00 a.m. in bed and take a test!!! I don't know if he is guilty or not BUT in this country and the USA isn't a person innocent until proven guilty? So, prove it - not just statements from disgruntled racers etc. We can all make accusations but sooner or later we have to back them up. I for one don't blame him for quitting the fight. Who could have gone on that long anyway. He has a life and a good one - the truth will come out - it ALWAYS does - so time will tell. I personally think he should keep the seven medals if and until they can actually prove their case. I find it hard to believe he would be the only person in the world to be doped up to win all those races and they can't detect it. Imagine testing fate that many times!!! We all know there is big money involved for the winner but not for the whinners! I will reserve judgement and sincerely hope another athlete doesn't have to endure this sort of biased and personal attack.
