Councillors to stop expensing booze
Despite being accused of grandstanding and acting on a knee jerk reaction, city council has voted 10-2 in favour of Councillor Diane Colley-Urquhart's motion to ban the expensing of alcohol by council members. There was an uproar earlier in the summer when expenses showed some council members bought their colleagues a glass of wine on the taxpayer dime. Colley-Urquhart wanted the practice stopped. She says she has hosted events but expensed the alcohol on her own dime. There were complaints...
